Ruth Lauren

Ruth Lauren is a Finnish-American filmmaker and actress who produces compelling global productions by uniting creative forces. With experience spanning over a decade, she has honed her skills in various aspects of the entertainment industry: from behind the camera to stage managing live shows and acting on stage and feature films. She most recently graduated with a MFA acting degree from Guildford School of Acting and is actively pursuing her acting and filmmaking career in the UK.

Ruth has the ability to evoke emotions and connect with her audience through her message and characters. Her desire is to create inspirational films with a thought-provoking message, which reach out to people and aspire a message of justice, hope, and kindness. Her most notable work includes working as the writer/director/showrunner of a kids’ TV-series “Mummola” (At Grandma’s), writer/director of a feature-length documentary “Olen Äiti” on motherhood, and the producer and actress of the short film “Sisareni”, which has been featured in over 10 film festivals worldwide including the Los Angeles Cinefest and The China Women’s Film Festival. 

As a script supervisor she has worked on Finnish TV-shows, including the Netflix production Dance Brothers and one of the most popular Finnish TV-shows “Syke” (Nurses). She has also stage managed a Broadway level production of “West Side Story” with director Tuomas Parkkinen and Finnish actors Maria Ylipää, Diandra, Chike Ohanwe as well as American actors Christian Mark Gibbs, Holly Sedillos, and Tonoccus McClaine. Additionally she has worked with notable Finnish film directors Klaus Härö and Aku Louhimies. She most recently graduated from the Guildford School of Acting with a MFA in acting and resides in the UK.

A world traveler since her youth, Ruth has grown up with a multicultural background in Europe and America and is fluent in English, Finnish, and German. She currently is based in England and travels internationally for work.

The Actor

Ruth has been trained in the methods of Stanislavski, Chekhov, Meisner, Uta Hagen, Lecoq, Laban, and Suzuki. She has performed in over 15 commercials and short films, including Sisareni, which was featured in 10 film festivals worldwide, as well as several commercials and TV shows. Additionally, she has been seen in Finland on the TV series Aikuiset.

Ruth deeply values each individual’s story. By acting, she is able to tap into the life of others and better understand them.

Ruth desires to act in TV shows and feature films, such as rom-coms, dramas, and thrillers; time period roles, such as Bridgerton, Downton Abbey, and Jane Austen adaptations; musicals, such as Grease, Wicked, and Fiddler on the Roof; games and animation.

Filmmaker

Ruth has directed over 10 short films, 3 documentaries, a kids’ TV series and multiple TV programs. Her experience includes writing, directing, producing, assistant directing, script supervising, and camera work. Her films Yours Truly and Table Etiquette have played at various film festivals.
She is currently working on producing a feature film Réveil set in Canada.

Ruth’s desire is to create inspirational films with a thought-provoking message, which reach out to people and arouse a message of hope.
